This Rushton-style sailing canoe, like its solo version the
Princess, is ideal for day sailing or overnight camping
on inland waters. Its decking and cockpit coaming give additional freeboard enabling it to
carry substantial sail, and its bulkheads provide dry storage for gear. The Ione
utilizes a folding centerboard.

These replicas of 19th century sailing canoes are built
using glued-lap plywood construction methods insuring that
watertight integrity will always be maintained. Construction is
aimed at duplicating the appearance of earlier craft, but taking
advantage of the low maintenance afforded by modern materials and
methods, such as plywood and epoxy.

The Ione is of lapstrake construction using the highest quality marine mahogany
plywood available. I use the epoxy glued-lap construction method in which all plank laps
and joints are epoxy glued for maximum strength, minimum weight, and watertight integrity.
There are no internal ribs which makes for low maintenance and easy cleaning.
